Most people view themselves as either dog lovers or cat lovers. This Sitter? She says “Why not both?” Based out of Woodroffe, NT, she has cared for kitties, hosted events for dogs, and minded animals of all shapes and sizes. Meet Tracey, our June Pet Sitter of the Month!
Why do you love being a Mad Paws Pet Sitter?
I have always loved animals since I was little. At first, dogs weren’t my favourite as they would always jump up on me. Over time, though, I came to love them, and now I have three: Ruby, Sansa, and Cyrus!
What’s your favourite thing to do with your furry clients?
I’m a chilled, laid-back type of person, so I love to put my furry clients at their ease. I often find the easiest way to do this is to take them for long walks. When my partner is around to help me with the dogs, we also love to take them to the beach.
What was the first pet you ever owned? Do you have your own pets now?
Like I said, it was only as an adult that I became a dog lover and Owner. As a child, I actually had three cats, which goes to show people can love both cats AND dogs!
Do you have any particularly memorable furry guests?
The most memorable would have to be Busta. He was an adorable Dachshund, and every time we went for a walk people would squeal: “Oh my God, it’s a sausage dog!” It was so cute!
If your furry guests could talk, what one question would you ask them at a Meet & Greet?
I’d ask: “What do you like to do for fun?” That way I’d know how to best pamper them on their visit.
What’s your one top tip for new Pet Sitters?
Be prepared to listen a lot. Every time I meet a potential client I spend at least 30-60 minutes talking and listening to Owners talk about their pets. Not only does it give them peace of mind, it also gives me the info I need to succeed at my job.
