What were you doing before Mad Paws?
Before Mad Paws I was at an advertising agency here in Sydney, doing digital work for them. Before that, I was living and working in London followed by Hong Kong and then decided it was time to come home! I actually did my degree in Industrial Design, which uses similar concepts to User Experience (which is what I do now). User Experience is a relatively new field and it was a great chance for me to combine all my experience in design and digital and go into UX! I’ve sort of come full circle and back to what I did at Uni!
What do you love the most about working at Mad Paws?
The teams we have are all really supportive. We’re all unique in our own way but when we come together, that one common trait that we all have is that we’re all very caring and supportive and that translates to the animals we have in the office too. When we go out as a whole team, we all let our hair down and enjoy each others company and that’s really nice too!
Tell me about something special you have on your desk
My hand cream! It’s a little bit of luxury – it smells lovely.
What do you spend your weekends doing?
Recently I’ve been going to art galleries but normally I go on walking trails, sometimes by the water, sometimes in the bush. I’m trying to enjoy the weather whilst it’s still good! I also love to catch up with friends over a long brunch.
What do you have as the background image on your phone?
It’s a ‘live wallpaper’ of bubbles which rise up to the top of the screen. It reminds me of scuba diving (I got my license a couple of years ago) and I also love that it’s not a static image.
If you could pet sit any animal, what would it be?
This one’s tough. Maybe a chameleon – I love that they change colour so that would be pretty cool to see. But they’re not very cuddly so maybe a panda? A baby panda would be pretty cute. A penguin would be really cool but they’re not very cuddly either. This is really hard!……..I’ve got it. I would absolutely love to pet sit a quokka!! Apart from being cute and cuddly, they have the most adorable demeanour about them. We are blessed to have such unique and amazing animals here in Oz.
