In Cat Breed Corner this month is the Persian! Check out the Persian’s stats, personality, health, grooming and more!
Personality Traits & Trainability ★
Persians are notorious for being quiet and sweet and love nothing more than laying on your lap being petted and fussed over! They are known for having short bursts of kitten-like behaviour, running around the room and playing before settling down once again in their favourite spot – right next to you! They love attention and should not be left alone for extended periods – if you are going away for a night it would be best to book a sitter to keep your Persian company.
Grooming ✄
There’s no escaping it – Persian’s coats are high maintenance. Due to their long fur, they require daily grooming to remove knots and avoid matting. If you’re looking for a low maintenance kitty, the Persian may not be for you!
Health +
All cats have potential to develop health problems but Persians are genetically predisposed to develop ey include polycystic kidney disease (PKD), progressive retinal atrophy (PRA), hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), bladder stones, cystitis (bladder infections), and liver shunts
Fun fact ♥
The Persian cat originated in Persia, which is now modern-day Iran.
